Tilaran questions

Hello All! We plan to make our first trip to explore places in CR to retire soon. We have thus far concentrated on Atenas, after researching many towns, but have recently been heaing about the Tilaran area near Lake Arenal. One thought that keeps surfacing is that Tilaran can be rather boring. But it looks as if there is plenty to do as far as canoing, kayaking, fishing, horsebackriding, mountain biking, hiking & so forth. My question is, is there a local farmers market, & a health care facility nearby? And what DO the expats do in Tilaran? Thanks!
