Hello All! We have been reading & planning our retirement to Costa Rica for about 2 years. Our time frame is to go for 2 visits, once during high season with a structured tour (probably Christopher Howard retirement tours), & a second trip during rainy season, on our own to explore. We initially figured we would pack up & ship our selected belongings & pets & MOVE. Now, we are rethinking it, & we have decided to have our belongings packed & stored here in the States. We will pack with essentials & our pets, & move to CR for one year. We plan to spend several months in each of 5 possible areas - Atenas, Grecia, San Ramon, Puriscal, & Tilaran. Then, after one year, if we decide to stay, we will have our packed belongings shipped to us & rent a home wherever we have decided to settle. It just seems to make sense to spend a year living lighter, rather than having all our belongings carted all over CR. If for some reason we decided to move back to the States, we will not have the added expense of having belongings shipped AGAIN. I am curious if others on the forum think this is a wise plan? Thanks!
