Immigrating cheep and self employed

So, I have went through your site, and many others in an effort to answer a couple of very circumstantial questions. Yes, it has to do with working, but the type of work and even the my intentions once I arrive are not actually covered... and I really would like to ask someone who may have first hand knowledge and can help. First my intention is to immigrate to Costa Rica and to eventually obtain citizenship. I now reside in the US, in Louisiana. The problem is that as far as I can tell, you have to have a small wealth already to do any of this. I do not have such wealth. I’m unable to determine if there is any protocol in place for this particular situation. I know it sounds bad, but I’m just “showing up”. I’ll have enough money to last a few months based on my research of the economy and average price of goods. I will be ok for a while, at least for the 90 day visa. So that’s one question. The second question is about working. I would be working for myself. I’ve been a working musician here for 15 yrs. I play several instruments and I’m a singer. So, as far as working, I plan to do the same thing there as I do here. If your wondering, I’m 34, no kids and single. Honestly, I have nothing better to do. Back to the point, I know you have to be fluent in Spanish for gainful employment, and you have to hire tico’s... but that doesn’t exactly apply to my circumstances does it? So you can see how finding resources may be a problem here. So,, to reiterate.. 1. Is there protocol in place for a lowly immigrant? 2. Can I legally work as a musician/singer. Believe me when I say.... I can’t find the answers.
