Exploring Options in Costa Rica

We are two single gentlemen in our mid-sixties looking to retire to Costa Rica in the not-too-distant future.
Ideally, we would like a location that is populated with ex-pats, no more than five to ten miles from shopping, doctors’ offices, etc. Low humidity would be preferable, with lots of
greenery, and possibly ocean views. We like having neighbors, but with enough space between properties to maintain some level of privacy without feeling isolated. Does anyone have any suggestions / experiences they would like to share?
