Planning to move to CR

My fiancee and I have been planning to move to CR with our daughter. I've read pages and pages and pages here on this forum. I've gotten everything from "It can be done, and be amazing" to "Its nearly impossible, highly stressful, why bother".
I've read about the residency issues and the perpetual tourism thing. I guess I'm just looking for any and all opinions, advice, input...feeling kind of lost about my life's dream now...
