Jaco area or Guanacaste?

We looking at coming to CR with our children age 15 & 10. But don't don't know where we should concentrate looking to live. The private schools seem to be more $$ in the Tamarindo area than in the Jaco area. Why? I don't want to love somewhere just because the school is cheaper but I don't know where to even strart?
