My husband and I are planning a quick week in Costa Rica checking out the Nicoya peninsula and the central highlands north of San Jose as possible hometowns when we retire in the next couple years. I know one week is not nearly enough time, but it’s what we have right now. I’d love to double our immersion into the culture by having a guide take us around and school us in Spanish. I am a nurse in the US, and have some limited Spanish that I have learned from my Latino patients . My husband has very little Spanish. Does anyone know of a tutor that can also act as a guide into local culture and activities? Perhaps for just a few days in only one region. I’m used to handling my own itineraries and driving, so an escorted tour is a big departure for us! Perhaps this could be someone I could stay in touch with via Skype and keep up lessons once we’re back home. I’d love textbooks to be part of the deal! Even an introduction to a tutor that won’t escort us but will tutor us via the internet as we prepare to move to Latin America would be invaluable! Thank you!
