Costa Rica costs of living and more

Hello,
I am new to this blogger thing, and I have read just a few topics. I am about 2 years 8 mos from hopefully an early retirement. I should have approximately $87,000 for a yearly retirement income, and will have about $150,000 to $190,000 in my current home's equity. I am looking at CR as a possible retirement destination. My wife and I are looking for security, therefore I hear that the Pacific side of CR is safer. I will eventually be looking for a home to buy, but understand I should rent for a year or two. If this is correct please let me know your thoughts. I will have Blue Cross Blue Shield Health insurance coverage until medicare. I already have found a list of providers in CR though them. Since I will have coverage, is this the best approach or would it be easier to go with the CR free healthcare? I believe I know the answer, but if someone can advise that would be great. Looking for how much everyone lives on per month, rent/mortg, food, utilities, gas, health care, transportation. We have three dogs at the moment, not sure in 2.8 years if that will still be the case, but would like any comments on Vets/pet care, and price of vets, dog food accessibility, quality, price. I have so many questions, but will take the time to research other blogs too. If anyone has good places to research on the web please advise. Pura Vida!
