Labor Laws - Empleadas

I have never had someone clean my house for several reason. But with this 'polvo' and/or ashes, have been thinking about it.

But I do not ANYONE who does it according to law, And have heard enough stories, that I need to have some trust in them. I know some gringos that have a mess going that could end up ugly.

For myself, I want to do it right, or not at all. I have gringo neighbors that pay their empleada extremely low. And I do understand that labor here is cheaper and that is why people hire. BUT she literally works herself hours and hours for very little and can barely drag herself home she is so tired..

Can I hire one just now and then, but pay into her social security? I believe she probably has not had 2 centimos put in. I think she is in her 50's but a hard worker. How much percentage do I pay for Christmas? If I decide later that I do not want her services, will I then need to pay her an arm and a leg to stop?

What precautions or wisdom can anyone give me?
