Does anyone have Medismart Health Insurance? If so, any pros and/or cons you provide?

medismart is both cost effective and fast. Its a great thing to have if you do not want to wait for the CAJA to do test or consult. I think they ae a must because they are independent and they even have their own Hospital in San Jose.

I had read that it wasn't as simple/easy to access as it seems. But, definitely cheaper for SOME procedures than going to one of the larger hospitals or waiting for a procedure with CAJA. Worth checking out, though.

I don't have it, but I know personally several people who do. They all express being happy with it. Never heard of any problems in getting it.

Before my move, I had contacted them, after reading that there was 'various locations' around the country. I was told, that yes, I could be treated in Liberia at the Hospital San Rafael Arcángel . However after contact with said facility, was told, no, this wasn't the case. Again from what I have read, it is mainly in the Central Valley.

The 'policy' is NOT insurance, it is a discount program which gives you discounts on specialists, x-rays, blood tests, etc.

If you want to see a specialist ask if they have one available prior to signing up because they may not necessarily have all the specialists available to you that are listed.

It's a worthwhile ' policy' but what they offer on their website does not always match their brochure.

Kohl
I also read about them and they offer several services even in Liberia, Filadelfia and Santa Cruz.
However I got the impression that we have to pay for any operation. Am I wrong?

Yes, they seem to offer pretty basic services...not operations at these 'discounted prices.'

I would advise anyone to check with the your local facility to see if they do indeed offer their services at the advertised prices

As mentioned, it is worth checking out.

You will be required to pay the new tax on the appointments.
