Coming for six months or longer

Hi, I am a retired/disabled veteran and as of right now I have a one-way ticket to CR from the US at the end of September. I wasn’t going to get a return ticket until I decided how long to stay. I know I’d like to stay until the end of March at the very least. I have seen others post that you have to have a return ticket to even enter the country. Is that correct?
