Another Tax to begin January in Ecuador

One thing is clearly happening in Ecuador that many expats were hoping to leave from their own home countries - TAXES -

The government of Ecuador clearly has improved tax collections but also has increased numerous new taxes. Much of this is to continue in supporting an ever expanding government.

Beginning 2012 there is a new green or environmental tax that will be accessed on vehicles at registration time.
There are some exemptions and the tax depends on the size of the engine.

Guess who is exempt? public institution vehicles --
