Summary: People describe life in Zambia as vibrant and full of culture. Expats love the friendly people, the beautiful landscapes, and the low cost of living. The average cost of living for an expat is around $1,000 per month. The population of Zambia is estimated to be around 17.3 million people. The largest cities in Zambia are Lusaka (the capital), Ndola, Kitwe, Kabwe, and Livingstone. The cons of living in Zambia include the lack of infrastructure, the high crime rate, and the limited access to healthcare. Additionally, the country is prone to natural disasters such as floods and droughts.

What do I need to know about living in Zambia?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Zambia, they said:

"Before retiring in Zambia, expats should familiarize themselves with the local culture and customs. It is also important to research the cost of living in Zambia, as well as the availability of healthcare and other services. Expats should also make sure to obtain the necessary visas and permits before moving to Zambia. Additionally, expats should be aware of the political and economic situation in the country, as well as any potential safety concerns. Finally, expats should consider the language barrier, as English is not widely spoken in Zambia," remarked one expat who made the move to Zambia.
