Additionally, the city of Le Lamentin is home to a number of medical centers and clinics that offer a variety of medical services, including specialists in a variety of fields," remarked one expat living in Martinique.
Are common prescription medications available in Martinique?
"Yes, common prescription medications are available in Martinique. Most pharmacies in Martinique carry a wide range of medications, including those for common illnesses such as colds, flu, and allergies. Many pharmacies also carry medications for more serious conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. In addition, some pharmacies offer specialized medications for specific conditions, such as cancer or HIV/AIDS," mentioned one expat in Martinique.
Do you have anything more to add about local medical facilities in Martinique?
"The hospitals, as they say are-only for extreme emergencies. If your.... Having chest pain stand not a heart attack, or feeling numbness in a body part and it's not falling off.... Be prepared to be on top of the "why are they here list". Most "doctors" in the er are interns. They are quick to tell you if its not life and death don't go to the er. The quality of health care isn't the best here.... Meaning.... Take care of your self, and get a few classées of natural remedies in before you come," said one expat living in Schoelcher.

The public healthcare system includes a network of hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities, as well as a variety of specialized services. "The pandemic has had a significant impact on the healthcare system in Martinique. The healthcare system has had to adapt to the changing needs of the population, including the implementation of telemedicine services and the expansion of hospital capacity. The government has also provided additional funding to support the healthcare system, including the purchase of additional medical equipment and the hiring of additional healthcare professionals. Despite these efforts, the healthcare system has been strained due to the increased demand for services, resulting in longer wait times and delays in care. Additionally, the pandemic has highlighted the need for improved access to healthcare services in rural areas, as well as the need for increased public health education and awareness," said an expat in Martinique.
