"Housing cost are double the amount in comparison to USA. A typical 3 bedroom apartment in Missouri could cost you around $500-$1000. Here no less than $800 to start. It's very common for a three bedroom small apartment to cost €1200 average," remarked one in Scholcher.
"The cost of housing in Martinique varies depending on the location and type of accommodation. Generally, the cost of renting an apartment or house in Martinique is relatively affordable compared to other Caribbean islands. Prices for a one-bedroom apartment in a city center can range from around €400 to €800 per month, while a three-bedroom apartment in a more rural area can cost around €600 to €1,000 per month," explained one expat.
What are typical rental prices for expats in Martinique?
"The rental price for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Martinique can range from around $500 to $1,000 per month, while a nice 2 bedroom apartment can range from around $800 to $1,500 per month," remarked one expat living in Martinique.
"Below €1,000 you could find a lot of rental properties in general areas around the island. Sometime you can find a 4 bedroom. everything really depends on how much you search. Each area is almost identical when it comes to prices of rent; However, you can find cheaper apartments in Fort de France, sometimes; seasonal renting seems to be a lot higher. Between 30 to 100€ per night," said one expat living in Scholcher.
What appliances are typically included in a rental?
We asked foreigners in Martinique what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:
"Usually when renting a property you get a stove, and sometimes a fridge. Some apartments or homes come fully furnished. Especially because this is a tourists island," mentioned one expat in Scholcher.
"Rental properties in Martinique typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, washing machine, and dryer. Additionally, some properties may include air conditioning, a dishwasher, and other small appliances," commented one expat who moved to Martinique.
