What is it like to retire in Falmouth?

"Life for a retiree in Falmouth can be quite serene and fulfilling. The town is known for its laid-back atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and warm, sunny weather, making it an ideal location for those looking to enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in their golden years. There is a fairly active expat community in Falmouth, with many retirees from the UK, US, and Canada choosing to settle here. This community often organizes social events and activities, providing a great opportunity for newcomers to make friends and integrate into the local culture. Cultural attractions in and around Falmouth include the historic Nelson's Dockyard, a restored Georgian naval dockyard that now serves as a museum and marina. The dockyard is part of the larger Nelson's Dockyard National Park, which also includes a nature reserve and some of the island's best hiking trails. For those interested in recreation, Falmouth offers a variety of options. The town is a popular destination for sailing and yachting, with several marinas and sailing clubs that offer lessons and rentals. There are also numerous golf courses in the area, as well as opportunities for fishing, snorkeling, and other water sports. Nightlife in Falmouth is relatively low-key, with a handful of bars and restaurants offering live music and local cuisine. However, the nearby capital of St. John's offers a wider range of nightlife options, including dance clubs, casinos, and high-end restaurants. Overall, Falmouth, Antigua & Barbuda offers a relaxed, friendly environment for retirees, with plenty of opportunities for socializing, recreation, and cultural exploration," explained a retiree in Falmouth.
