This means that while you might not find a bustling expat scene, you will find a welcoming and friendly community that is used to having foreigners around. Culturally, Gracias has a lot to offer. The town is one of the oldest in Honduras and is steeped in history. There are a number of historical sites to visit, including the San Sebastian Church and the Fort of San Cristobal. The town is also surrounded by the Celaque National Park, which offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and bird watching. Recreational activities in Gracias are largely centered around the great outdoors.
