Summary: The cost of living in Chiang Mai, Thailand is generally quite affordable. A nice 1 bedroom apartment can cost anywhere from $200 to $400 per month, while a nice 2 bedroom apartment can cost from $400 to $600 per month. Dinner at a moderately priced restaurant can cost anywhere from $5 to $15 per person.

Is the cost of living in Chiang Mai high?

"The cost of living in Chiang Mai is generally quite affordable. Groceries, transportation, and basic necessities are all relatively inexpensive. Eating out at restaurants is also quite affordable, with many local eateries offering delicious meals for a fraction of the cost of what you would pay in other cities. Renting an apartment or house is also quite affordable, with many options available for a reasonable price. Overall, Chiang Mai is a great place to live for those looking for a low cost of living," remarked one in Chiang Mai.

"I think one person can live comfortably in Chiang Mai for between $1000-2000/month," explained one expat.
