Is the cost of living in San Pedro high?

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in San Pedro, they wrote:

"The cost of living in San Pedro is considered moderate compared to other parts of the world. Rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center can be quite affordable, while outside the city center, it can be even cheaper. The cost of utilities such as electricity, heating, cooling, and water is also relatively low. Groceries in San Pedro can be a bit expensive, with items such as bread, milk, and eggs costing more than they would in many other countries. Eating out at an inexpensive restaurant is fairly affordable, but a three-course meal at a mid-range restaurant can be quite pricey. Transportation costs in San Pedro are also moderate. A one-way ticket on local transport is affordable, and the monthly pass is reasonably priced as well. Gasoline prices are higher than in many other countries. Healthcare in San Pedro is relatively inexpensive, with a visit to a private doctor costing less than it would in many developed countries. Fitness club and sports memberships are also quite affordable. In terms of entertainment, a cinema ticket is reasonably priced, and so are memberships to tennis courts and other sports facilities. Clothing and shoes are priced similarly to what you would find in a mid-range store in a developed country. In summary, while some aspects of living in San Pedro, Belize can be quite affordable, others such as groceries and gasoline can be more expensive. Overall, the cost of living is moderate and can be managed with careful budgeting," remarked one expat in San Pedro.

Will I save money living in San Pedro?

The cost of living in Belize is generally lower than in the U.S. This includes expenses such as housing, groceries, and dining out. Utilities can be a bit more expensive, but overall, you would probably spend less on your basic monthly expenses. However, it's important to note that the cost can vary depending on your lifestyle and spending habits. For instance, if you choose to live in a luxury beachfront condo and eat at high-end restaurants every day, your cost of living could be similar to or even more than living in the U.S. But if you live more like the locals, your expenses could be significantly lower," wrote a person living in San Pedro.

What is the average cost of housing in San Pedro?

If you are thinking about moving to San Pedro, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The average cost of housing in San Pedro can vary greatly depending on the location and size of the property. For a one-bedroom apartment in the city center, you might expect to pay around $800 to $1,000 USD per month. If you're looking at a three-bedroom apartment in the same area, the cost could rise to between $1,500 and $2,000 USD per month. For those interested in purchasing property, a one-bedroom house might cost around $150,000 USD, while a larger, three-bedroom house could be priced at around $300,000 USD. However, these prices can fluctuate based on the real estate market and other factors," said one person in San Pedro.
