Generally, however, one can expect to pay around $550 - $800 per month for a comfortable and conveniently located apartment. For a nice 2 bedroom unit, the cost usually starts at around $700 and can reach up to $1,200 depending on the features and location," said one expat living in Alexandria.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Alexandria what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In Alexandria, many rental homes typically come with appliances such as a refrigerator, a washing machine, and a stove or oven. In addition, some rental properties may also include air conditioning units and even a water heater.
