The public hospitals are generally better equipped and more modern than the private ones, but they may be more crowded and busy. Most medical facilities offer a wide range of basic medical services, but specialized care or emergency care may be more difficult to find even at the larger hospitals. Pharmacies are generally well stocked and have a wide range of medication. Although the quality of medical care in Alexandria can vary greatly depending upon the hospital or clinic, most medical facilities are reasonably up-to-date and offer basic medical treatments," explained one expat living in Alexandria, Egypt.
