How do I find a place to live in Santa Marta?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"Finding a place to live in Santa Marta involves several steps. First, you need to determine your budget and the type of accommodation you're looking for. This could range from a small apartment to a larger house, depending on your needs and financial situation. Next, you should research the different neighborhoods in Santa Marta to find one that suits your lifestyle and preferences. Some popular areas include El Rodadero, Taganga, and the city center. Once you've identified a few potential neighborhoods, you can start looking for available properties. There are several online platforms where you can find listings, such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and local real estate websites. You can also consider hiring a local real estate agent to help you in your search. They can provide valuable insight into the local market and help you negotiate a fair price. Once you've found a property you're interested in, you should arrange a viewing. This will give you a chance to inspect the property and ask any questions you might have. If you're happy with the property, you can then proceed to negotiate the terms of the lease. Make sure to read the contract carefully and understand all the terms before signing. Finally, once the lease is signed, you can arrange for the move-in. This might involve hiring a moving company or simply packing your belongings and moving them yourself. Remember, finding a place to live in a new city can take time, so be patient and don't rush the process," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Santa Marta.
