What are healthcare services like in Anegada?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Anegada. They wrote...
"Healthcare services in Anegada, British Virgin Islands are quite basic due to the island's small population and remote location. The island has a small clinic, the Anegada Health Centre, which provides primary healthcare services. This includes general medical consultations, minor surgical procedures, and emergency care. However, for more serious health issues, patients often have to be transported to the larger Peebles Hospital on Tortola, the main island of the British Virgin Islands. The clinic is staffed by a small team of healthcare professionals, including a resident nurse. There is no resident doctor on the island, but doctors from Tortola visit the clinic on a regular basis. The government of the British Virgin Islands is responsible for healthcare services and there is a strong emphasis on public health and preventative care. Despite the limitations, the healthcare services in Anegada are generally considered to be adequate for the needs of the local population," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Anegada, the British Virgin Islands.
