For more serious conditions, there are hospitals in nearby cities like Liberia, which is approximately 30 minutes away. These hospitals are well-equipped and staffed with highly trained medical professionals. Many doctors and nurses in Costa Rica are bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English, which can be beneficial for English-speaking tourists. Costa Rica also has a strong emphasis on preventative care, and it's common for healthcare providers to offer routine check-ups and screenings. Additionally, the country is known for its affordable healthcare services, including dental care and cosmetic surgery, attracting medical tourists from around the world," commented one expat who made the move to Playa Panama, Costa Rica.
