Are foreigners allowed to own property in El Salvador?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in El Salvador if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in El Salvador. The country has a law that allows foreign nationals to purchase and own real estate in El Salvador. However, the foreign national must obtain a residency permit in order to purchase property. The residency permit is obtained through the Salvadoran Immigration Department. Additionally, the foreign national must have a Salvadoran bank account in order to purchase property," explained one expat living in El Salvador.
