Are foreigners allowed to own property in Romania?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Romania if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Romania. Non-EU citizens must obtain a permit from the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to purchase property in Romania. EU citizens are allowed to purchase property in Romania without a permit. However, they must register the property with the Romanian Land Registry. Additionally, foreign citizens are subject to the same taxes and fees as Romanian citizens when purchasing property in Romania," said another expat in Romania.
