Greetings to all!
My husband and I will be visiting Puerto Plata in November to research possible retirement locations. I've done some research, however, would greatly appreciate any tips, pointers, recommendations as we are first time visitors and flying blind!
Below are a few of my questions - but I welcome any advice with open arms!
1. We fly into and out of Punta Cana -- I'm thinking the easiest / most affordable option is to rent a car and drive to Puerto Plata. This would also allow for ease of access to other areas. That said, I must admit I'm a little nervous about driving after reading numerous "horror stories" regarding driving in the DR. I welcome any suggestions regarding car rental/driving/best way to get from Punta Cana to Puerto Plata etc..
2. We are looking for low key, beaches, warm community atmosphere to retire in. Any suggestions for other locations to research while we are in the DR.
3. Any got-to-do's, can't miss activities we should plan for.
Thanks in advance!
Mary
