Hi,
I'm planning on relocating to Costa Rica and will be heading to San Jose next week to stay for a month. I've been to Costa Rica three other times and now I'm exploring it with an eye directed at living and working there indefinitely. I'll be staying with Tico friends for the first few days and then I'll be renting an apartment for the remainder of my stay. I was hoping (like many others I'm sure) to get some advice on finding a position with a company. I've been working as an executive with a major entertainment company for several years and I'm now hoping to use my account management and marketing background somehow in Costa Rica. I've also had some hotel sales and marketing experience. I've done extensive research online and with books but I was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips on how to explore job opportunities while I'm there. I understand the difficulty for expats in securing employment. Any words of wisdom on how to come in contact with local companies or the multinationals to gain a better understanding and hopefully a path to securing a position? Good hangouts to meet professionally employed expats? Thanks for any help! Also, I speak some Spanish but I'm going to take an intensive course while I'm there for the month. I found several recommneded schools online but I welcome any insight into that area as well.
Thanks,
Ken
