question about furniture

Hello All! I have been told by many people in the various Costa Rica forums/FB, that furniture can be a challenge there. Leather rots & fabric stays damp, wood can rot (unless you buy native wood of course). We plan to decorate very simply, BUT we are planning to take 2 easychairs/recliners - what would be best? leather (no), microfiber, or what type of upholstry? Or washable removable covers made from outdoor fabric? But then the fabric bel;ow it would rot... hmmm....Any help would be appreciated.
