I have been speaking with my wife for a while now about moving to Costa Rica. My wife has been several times, I have only been once.
I loved every bit of Costa Rica, but obviously it will be hard for either of us to work unless we get a work permit. (We'd be coming from Canada).
Our questions would be has anyone else done this leap? It would be great to hear from them if they have and how they adjusted.
I currently work and make a very good salary up here. (I work with computers/home and small business networks and surveillance/security equipment). My wife is a teacher math/computer science and a programmer.
I know the lifestyle in CR is a different pace. I'm ready to welcome this pace, but have the jitters about leaving a secure job paying well up here, if there are no job opportunities that pay half decent down there.
We have friends that have built a home near Jaco and we can potentially have a job lined up if we wanted.. but it's singular "a" job.
We have a son that we would love to bring up in the Costa Rican lifestyle, but are concerned about him being set back due to us both primarily only speaking english.
Any and all guidance/assistance would be grateful.
