I wasn't able to search this forum and get current information easily so I'll have to ask. I've been reading the costaricalaw.com website regarding establishing pensionado residency. I keep in mind comments about it taking a long time and that we should get an early start to avoid/minimize the 90 day exit/reentry routine. (However, the website recommends not applying until we are in CR on our first 90 days as a tourist.)
Regardless, I would use an attorney which should expedite things somewhat but I'm still wondering about the ramifications of the timing. That is, if I submit the application first, and haven't yet relocated but immigration has approved the residency and my rep has picked up the resolution, how long might I have to move, register with CCSS, and get the picture ID from immigration? Is there a time limit? Or is applying first too much hassle? Thanks.
