Scuba Diving in Ecuador

Hi all - I learned to dive in San Diego, CA had to wear a 5mm wet suit which I hated suiting up and getting out of. The last twenty years I've been diving mostly in Cozumel MX and other Caribbean locations where all I needed is swim suit or my diving skin. Can some fill me in on the diving down there? I read you needed a wet suit in the Galapagos Islands so I suspect it's that way all over the area which will bum me out but not deter me from moving there if I like it when I come down in a few months. Thanks
