There are some, allegedly tech gurus, who will tell you that to get all of Netflix's North Amercan library, you have to have a VPN, which hides the location of your computer. I am here to tell you that is almost NOT true. If you were a Netflix subsriber before you moved to Ecuador, you do NOT need a VPN. I was a Netflix subscriber for several years before moving to Cuenca. I brought my computers from the US and a ROKU box and I have been enjoying the entire Netflix library for 3 years. Last year I bought a second ROKU box from Amazon and had it shipped to Ecuador. Once I linked it to my existing account, viola, I have second TV with Netflix service. In addition, I can get Netxflix on my Apple TV and on an internet ready DVD player.
If you were NOT a Netflix subscriber before you came to Ecuador, you may be out of luck, because Netflix places a cookie on your computer which reveals its location However, I suspect a technically capable computer wizard can change your DNS number and get rid of any cookies in your system.
