Getting Furniture, and other household items cheaply in M.V.

Its been mentioned on this blog before, but I think it bears repeating, the REMAR stores sell whatever gets donated to them, and it is always different , each time I stop by. the 2 stores on Uruguay , 3 blocks down ( and by that , I mean elevation, its below the hill that 18th of Julio sits on ) Rio Branco. ( take the 21, 64, 187, or CA 1 from tres Cruces/ terminal de omnibus. the store that has a whole room of clothes and shoes, in addition to the furniture and housewares, is at 1021 Uruguay, while the site, a few blocks away, at 932 Uruguay is mostly furniture and housewares. when I was there , 2 days ago, they had lots of furniture and dishes available. previously, they even had books. the money goes to a church that provides for street kids, so your money goes to a great cause. and the people who run it are very helpful. there is also a store at General Flores 2695 that I haven't been too, that specializes in furniture. and, if you don't live in M.V., find out ASAP where the goods that are seized in remate ( Uruguayan personal bankruptcy ) processes are sold. we have 2 sites here in Minas, and one of them has stuff every single Tuesday night. I have pretty much furnished my entire apartment , for pesos( pennies ) on the dollar this way. happy thrift shopping, marta
