A good climate is a matter of what you are used to. We are Quebeckers, but we have had homes in many places...including a beach villa for a decade when young. We find the Cuenca weather great, and laugh when we see locals in ski-jackets at 65F. Others think that retirement is a little place where it is always hot and and sand is in all their beds and clothes. ;) It is a small city and close to countryside in every direction. The Cuenca cultural scene and background keeps one's mind alive if you are willing to travel 5 minutes. Minds are of extreme importance. Yes, though it is beautiful enough to be a one of small handful of World Heritage CITIES, there are an array of exquisite views in Ecuador. But at what loss to other things a person needs?
