Attitude toward Americans?

I am a retirement age American seeking possibly to retire in Belgium or other low country. For those of you Yanks who are living there, do you find yourself generally warmly welcome by Belgians, or otherwise? I have lived briefly in Netherlands and found them friendly and warm, with few exceptions. Thanks for your candid comments.
