Professional American Nanny Available

I am an American living in Kenya. My fiance is Kenyan studying at NEGST in Karen. I moved to Kenya in August 2009 to plan my wedding which will take place in July of this year. I am looking for work to sustain me for the next year while my husband to be finishes his studies. I have been volunteering for a non profit since August but now I need to find a paying job because my support has run out.

I have been a nanny in the US since 2006. It is how I worked my way through university. My specialty is children 6 months to 3 years but I am comfortable with all ages except high school. Honestly high school kids are a little frightening. I have worked for a Pakistani family, a Jewish- American family and a Chinese- American family. I believe culture is very important at any age so as much as I would want your child to experience Kenyan culture while in Kenya I also believe they should identify with their home culture as well and am willing to do what you feel necessary to maintain your child’s national identity. In the past my responsibilities have included cooking for and cleaning up after the children in my care as well as attending classes. I speak some Spanish, I was fluent in 2005 but it has faded due to lack of use and for the past 9 months I have been studying Swahili. I can get by in it but am far from proficient. I do have an international driver’s license and have been driving in Kenya since August but I currently do not have a car and I do not know how to drive a manual.

I am considering starting classes at daystar in the evenings in August but if I find full time work it is not necessary that I study. I am looking for Monday to Friday 9-5ish hours and my pay is negotiable from 250 dollars a month to 500 dollars a month ( 18750 – 37500 shillings) depending on my responsibilities.
