Currently because all of my income is from outside Mexico and although a permanent resident I still have a home outside Mexico then I don’t pay tax on my non- Mexican income.
Am I correct on thinking that when I sell my overseas home then all my income will be subject to Mexican tax less a deduction for overseas tax paid under double taxation agreements?
All online info talks about needing to “own” a property in your original home country - it’s not clear if a rental property or home of a relative could be designated as one’s home to avoid all income being subject to Mexican tax. Has anyone had experience of this as Mexican tax authorities now seem to be very interested regularising the tax situation of ex-pats?
