What do I need to know before moving to Graz?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Graz, they said:

"Graz is the second largest city in Austria and has a rich culture with a vibrant university scene. English is not widely spoken, so it is important to learn some German before going there. The cost of living in Graz is slightly lower than in Vienna and numerous public transport options are available to get around the city. Housing in Graz can range from luxury apartments to affordable student housing. Graz has a strong cultural identity, so be prepared to learn and take part in local customs and traditions. The city has a mild climate, with warm summers and cold winters, and plenty of outdoor activities throughout the year," commented one expat who made the move to Graz, Austria.

"Prepare to learn this language, and this slang. Go to the district office for help in finding a place, but do this as soon as possible, also look in the paper, or go to virtual vienna site, there is alot of help there," remarked one expat in Graz, Austria.
