What is it like to retire in Rovinj?

"Life for a retiree in Rovinj can be quite idyllic and relaxed. The city is known for its Mediterranean climate, picturesque views, and rich history, making it an attractive destination for retirees. There is a small but active expat community in Rovinj, with many retirees from various European countries choosing to spend their golden years here. Cultural attractions abound in Rovinj. The city's Old Town is a treasure trove of historical sites, including the iconic St. Euphemia's Basilica, the Rovinj Heritage Museum, and the Rovinj Town Museum. The city is also home to numerous art galleries and hosts several cultural events throughout the year, such as the Rovinj Summer Festival and the Night of St. Lawrence, a traditional celebration featuring live music and dance performances. Recreational opportunities are plentiful in and around Rovinj. The city is surrounded by natural beauty, with the Golden Cape Forest Park and the Palud Ornithological Reserve offering excellent hiking and bird-watching opportunities. The Adriatic Sea is perfect for swimming, sailing, and fishing. There are also several well-maintained cycling routes in the area for those who enjoy biking. Nightlife in Rovinj is more laid-back compared to larger cities, but there are still plenty of options for those who enjoy a night out. The city has a number of cozy bars and restaurants where one can enjoy local wines and cuisine. During the summer months, there are often live music performances in the town square. Overall, Rovinj offers a peaceful yet engaging lifestyle for retirees, with its blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and friendly community," commented one retiree living in Rovinj, Croatia.
