The city is known for its beautiful landscapes, including the Seoraksan National Park, which offers numerous hiking trails for those who enjoy outdoor activities. The city is also home to several beaches, providing opportunities for leisurely walks and relaxation. There isn't a large expat community in Sokcho, but the city is quite welcoming to foreigners. The city also hosts several festivals throughout the year, including the Sokcho International Ice Fishing Festival and the Seorak Cultural Festival. Nightlife in Sokcho is relatively quiet compared to larger cities like Seoul. However, there are a number of restaurants and bars where one can enjoy a quiet evening. The city also has a few karaoke bars, which are a popular form of entertainment in Korea.
