Groceries and dining out can also be less expensive, depending on where you shop and eat. However, imported goods and luxury items can be more expensive due to import taxes. Utilities such as electricity can also be higher due to the tropical climate requiring constant use of air conditioning. Despite these costs, many people find that they can live a comfortable lifestyle in Contadora Island for less than they would spend in the U.S," said one person in Contadora Island.
