Eating out at restaurants is also not very expensive, with a meal at an inexpensive restaurant being quite affordable. A three-course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant can be a bit more expensive, but still reasonable. Public transportation in Portimao is also quite affordable, with a monthly pass costing less than in many other European cities. Gasoline prices are a bit high, similar to the rest of Europe. Healthcare in Portimao is of good quality and is not very expensive. Private health insurance is affordable and public healthcare is free for residents.
