What advice to expats in Otavalo have about housing?

Answer this Question

When we asked people living in Otavalo about the social scene there, they described it saying...

"Expats in Otavalo advise that it's important to visit the area first before deciding on a place to live. They suggest renting a place for a few months to get a feel for the area and to understand the local housing market. It's also recommended to hire a local real estate agent who can help navigate the housing market and negotiate prices. Expats also advise to be aware of the local customs and laws regarding property ownership and rental. They also suggest considering the location of the house in relation to amenities such as markets, hospitals, and schools. It's also important to consider the climate and altitude of Otavalo, as it can be quite different from what one is used to. Lastly, expats recommend learning some Spanish, as it will make the whole process easier and more enjoyable," said another in Otavalo, Ecuador.
