Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Istanbul

If a friend of yours living in the same country were expecting a baby, what advice would you give her?

1. Make sure to research the healthcare system in Istanbul and find a doctor or midwife that you trust and feel comfortable with. 2. Consider taking a childbirth education class to learn more about the birthing process and what to expect. 3. Make sure to have a plan for postpartum care, such as finding a pediatrician and a lactation consultant. 4. Consider joining a local expat group or online forum to connect with other expats who have had babies in Istanbul and can provide support and advice. 5. Familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations regarding birth certificates and other paperwork. 6. Have a plan for how you will get to the hospital when it's time to give birth. 7. Make sure to have a support system in place, such as family or friends who can help you during the pregnancy and after the baby is born.
