Moving to Malaysia

Hello, me and my boyfriend (husband to be in 4 weeks) are planning to move to K.L around January 2006.
We are trying to read up on what to do and where to start we have found a lot of answers in expats forums, but still a lot of questions remain, we have a very good lifestyle in Sweden, and dont want to give that up for anything less, but we have understood that if you make a reasonable income you can live pretty good in Malaysia, but still we would be giving up friends and family.
Not only am I worried about that, but i´m also worried about the weather and the way of living, we will be going in September to check out the country and some details before actually deciding and my husband to be is very sensitive to humid weather and.

We are thinking a lot about whether to ship our furniture or not, is it worth it? Being Swedish we need one Ikea at least J. But we have also understood that Malaysia has an excellent variety and good quality furniture. Should we rent fully furnished or not? If You do so? how bad/good can you expect the furniture to be? What is a reasonable rent for a 3 room apartment in a good/ok area? When you have never been in Malaysia before its difficult to know whats a good area and whats not, we have been trying to make appointments with a realtors, to maybe see some apartments when we are there but none have replied, we would also like to see some offices, since my boyfriend is being sent out to open a branch for his company. Is the internet very expensive? Since I am a freelance translator I work at home online and with a pc so basically we will need 24h internet service. If anybody can answer these questions I will be very happy, and probably ask even more questions. :-)

Best Regards
Alice
