Experience is priceless........

...and advice is cheap...there are two kinds of travelers and two types of persons who retire and relocate in Nicaragua and other 'developing' countries where endemic poverty sadly exists.. those who get robbed and those who don't..punto!!! I have resided in Central America 25 years, I have never been 'mugged' nor robbed on the highway, 15 years of driving in Central America. Those who constantly get 'robbed' usually don't take time to learn local language, culture and customs nor use common sense, keep a low profile, never flash cash in public, never tell overly friendly strangers where they live and what their itinerary is, don't be a do gooder and 'adopt' beggars nor glue sniffing kids, I knew 4 naive French Canadian travelers to Granada, Nicaragua who were robbed of $4000 USA, this manner, if staying at least 3 months, get a cell phone!!! Never carry laptop on street nor public transportation, take taxi or ride with friends back and forth to wi fi location, never trust a stranger just because they speak your language or are from your country..includes land and real estate speculators!!!! Take good advices, do your own research, but it is still necessary to travel to the destinations to which you wish to relocate and stay at least a month, make contacts at first who are not trying to sell you coaching or relocation tours or real estate, especially locals, avoid ex pats who hang in bars and gossip, real estate cons, usually from USA and other developed countries, and ex pat whiners who cannot adapt and are constantly getting robbed!!! Saludos
Will send you Central America Travel information if you send mea pm, buena suerte, relocating is only what YOU make it, not a stranger with a handle on an ex pat forum!!! saludos
