Cell Phone Planning

I am considering replacing my "smart" phone with a "dumb" phone. Since I now have a Tablet, the only thing I really need my phone to do is make calls. Can you imagine that? Since I am planning on visiting Nica quite often to arrange for an eventual move there, I would like to get a dual SIM card phone. Then I'd have a SIM for my U.S. Carrier (now Spring, but thinking about going back to AT&T or Verizon), and one for either Moviestar or Claro. Until I decide exactly where to settle I don't really want to mess with SIM cards from both NICA carriers if I can possibly avoid that and wonder which one would provide the best overall coverage. On my next trip in October I plan to spend time In Manague, Grananda, SJDS, Leon, Esteli, Matalgalpa, and Jinotega for sure (and maybe a few others). I also notice in my research that different phones support different GSM networks and have seen the following listed: 800, 540, 900, 1800 & 1900. Can anyone tell me which GSM networks Claro & Moviestar use. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've heard that I can just buy a SIM card and activate it at the airport. Is that correct?
