When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in San Miguel de Allende, they replied:

"Expat healthcare insurance for age 60+ is expensive and not great. To me, not worth it. Also Rx pain meds and psych meds extremely expensive & very difficult to legally obtain," said another expat.

"I don't need traditional medical services, so I have limited experience. But my friends who do use it say that it is MUCH more affordable than the U.S. and equally as competent," remarked another expat in San Miguel de Allende.

What have your experiences during the pandemic with the local healthcare system been like?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in San Miguel de Allende, they replied...

"I literally fled Mexico in mid March of 2020 when the pandemic hit (after having lived there for two years). No way was I gonna stay during Covid. So glad I left. Will go back for long visits post pandemic," commented one expat who moved to San Miguel de Allende.

"I chose to return to the US to get my vaccinations and I have a Covid evacuation rider on my medical evacuation plan. I would not want to be treated for Covid in Mexico,," said another expat.
