The city itself is small and peaceful, with a slow pace of life that many retirees find appealing. There is a growing expat community in Rivas, with many retirees from the United States, Canada, and Europe choosing to settle here. The locals are generally friendly and welcoming, and there are several expat groups and clubs that organize social events and activities. This makes it easy for newcomers to make friends and integrate into the local community. Culturally, Rivas has a lot to offer. The city is home to several historical sites, including the Church of Saint Peter and the Rivas Museum, which showcases the history and culture of the region.
